John : What about Jodie the pig ?

George : Jodie's dead . Been dead for ever ... both literally and figuratively . Of course , Jodie was snuffed out in the mid 80s by my wife and kids an' I ... In a climactic finale , which you can read about in the final chapter to my ... our , perhaps I should say , in respect to Kathy and her nitwit tykes ... Our trilogy . And notice that we snuffed out Jodie in the climax , as opposed to killing it , which would've made it deader than it already was , and , consequently , would have made it even more intimate with the stuffage of hell , which it would then force us to get intimate with , and we said , no we're not down with that ; " down " meaning " below the surface " , which is exactly where hell presumably is .

John : So , has your life since then been a long span of falling action ? Because , y'know , that is what typically follows a climax .

George : I have E . D . ... Other than that , I can't say there's been a marked decrease in action . I ride my motorcycle , go out on the water with my boats ... Life's been a thrill ... Now , that doesn't take away all the left-over pain from the ordeal I suffered . Indeed , every time I go out on my motorcycle , I wonder : is this my time ? Am I going to die now ? After flies , and being constantly cold , and ignoring my dander-infested hair for days on end ... Battling pig demons , hanging onto cactuses just to avoid being swept away by a torrent of ectoplasm ( see sequel books ) ... After all that , am I going to die , like ... Like in a motorcycle accident , or ... Or a boating accident ?

John : And if you did ... What would that do for you spiritually ? I mean , would it in some way be cathartic , or ... What would you feel if , after all you've been through ... What'd it be like being run down by a semi while riding your motorcycle ?

George : ... Painful ... bloody ... distressing ... Of course , I'm not speaking from experience , though I have experienced all of that and then some . But ... I don't really know what it would be like to be run down ... It'd be interesting to find out ; I know people who have . But ... I doubt it would even come close to the pain of the chill , the headaches , the levitations ... But , yeah , it'd be interesting to compare pain ... You know , to compare natural pain with supernatural pain , and see if there actually is that much of a difference .

John : Okay , um ... Tell us again , George ... Why do you think yours was the only family to ever be tormented in that house ? Besides the Defeos ?

George : Well , I ...

John : And explain again why you believed you were slowly turning into Ronnie Defeo during your residence at 112 Ocean Avenue .

George : Okay . Well ... Demons are very particular . They ... They seem to ... Attack people who ... Well , it's like this ... We were a family ... we were a family ... so ... And we were a close family ... Had a dog ... Just a real ... good family ... ... Now , what would you do if you were a demon in this situation ? You had just convinced a member of the previous family to massacre that family , and ...

John : Of course , you're not really refering to me when you say " you " , correct ?

George : Oh , no . No . Absolutely not . No , it's the demon ... The demon I'm refering to .

John : The Indian chief ?

George : Him , or ... mabye Jodie the pig ... Or the hooded figure with half his face shot away ... Or ... could've been any of'm , I suppose . Anyway , wat would you , meaning the demon , in no relation to you , the man I'm speaking with ... Well , let's just say , what would a demon - Indian chief , pig monster , what have you - What would a demon do after successfully exterminating one family , and then ... A new family moves in , undaunted by even the thought of something amiss in the house ... We move in , after we've been warned , in a sense , by what happened to the previous family ... What would a demon do to that family ? Now ... It would ( a ) scare the **** out'f'm ; ( b ) try to physically harm them ; and ( c ) after the family's escaped and exposed the evil force in the house , it would naturally go into hiding for awhile to ( a ) protect itself from an all-out excorsism ; and ( b ) to discredit the claims of the family - my family - and make us out to be liars . As for why I felt I was becoming Mr . Defeo , to be honest ... I just felt like killing a whole bunch of people back then .

John : And ...

George : And I had a beard .
